Russia: US WWII-era tanks retrieved from Barents Sea near Kildin Island

Two US tanks deployed in the Second World War were retrieved from the Barents Sea near the Kildin Island on Wednesday. It is assumed that both Sherman tanks were thrown into the sea in 1945.
The operation was held within the framework of the tactical and special training in underwater operations in the area of the Kildin Island.
The rescue unit of the Northern Fleet arrived on site on July 3. For a week and a half, deep-water divers in light equipment carried out work at a depth of more than 50 meters, aided by remote-controlled underwater vehicles.
