The world's most expensive kebab was presented at the high-end Hazev restaurant in London's Canary Wharf on Tuesday. A far cry from the average post-night out takeaway, this indulgent dish will set punters back a staggering £925 (€1200 or $1350).
Head chef and owner of the restaurant Onder Sahan presented the 'Royal kebab', which is made from the finest Japanese Wagyu beef, fresh morel mushrooms and 25-year-old Italian vinegar.
"We try to change the kebab image," said Sahan, saying he created the kebab in a bid to dispel its reputation as junk food only consumed by the inebriated. "You know, this is all kebab having in the midnight - I don't agree for that", he said, adding, that he "decided to make something unusual."
While many may scoff at the kebab's price, Sahan said that he will pay more than £1,000 (€1200 or $1400), if someone is able to make a better kebab than himself.
