Two Killed in Dallas Outside Muhammad Cartoon-contest Event

Police shot and killed two men who opened fire outside a contest for drawing the Muslim prophet Muhammad in the Dallas suburb of Garland, Texas, on Sunday night.
Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement, “Texas officials are actively investigating to determine the cause and scope of the senseless attack.”
According to reports, the two men, who have not yet been identified, drove up to the Curtis Culwell Center and shot at a security officer. Garland police returned fire and subsequently killed the two shooters. Their bodies remain on the scene, and officers are investigating possible explosives in their vehicle.
The contest, hosted by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, promised a $10,000 prize for the best cartoon depicting the prophet.
