Police were on high alert outside the Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Hotel in Dresden, Thursday, as the participants of the four-day Bilderberg Group conference arrived ahead of the conference.
Considered to be one of the most secretive summits of the year, the 2016 conference, like its predecessors, is attended by some of the world's elite.
To ensure the privacy of the attendees themselves, numerous security measurements were taken around the hotel. More than 400 police officers were deployed to barricade the area.
A protest was held in front of the Semperoper (Saxon State Opera) where the participants drove by on their way to the conference venue. A number of banners expressed public decry of the Bilderberg conference for its secrecy and demand of more transparency and the end of NATO, imperialism and war.
