Personnel of the Slovenian Army began creating a razor-wire fence on the country's border with Croatia near the Slovenian border town of Rigonce, Wednesday, in a bid to stem the flow of refugees entering the EU. Wire fencing was taken from Slovenian Army trucks and erected over a 1.5 km (0.9 mile) perimeter in two locations near the frontier. According to State Secretary at the Slovenian Interior Ministry Bostjan Sefic the barriers do not have the purpose of preventing arrivals to Slovenia or significantly reducing them, but to control the flow. It is estimated that 250,000 people have made it to Europe through the so-called Western Balkan refugee route since mid-September as European states begin to put heavy caps on the number of migrants entering EU borders.
