The criminal case into a 15-year-old schoolboy who attacked his teacher with an axe and air gun in the town of Ivanteyevka on Monday will be transferred to the main department of the Russian Investigative Committee. The announcement was made by the committee’s spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko in Moscow, Tuesday.
The order was given by the chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee with the aim of producing “a more thorough and objective investigation,” Petrenko said.
“Investigators are looking into the motives of the student's illegal behaviour, as well as the reasons behind it,” Petrenko said, adding “as part of the investigation, the social circles of the teenager, his behaviour and interests in recent years will be studied.”
Earlier on Tuesday, a 15-year old pupil of the ninth grade attacked his computer science teacher with a kitchen hatchet and then threw firecrackers and shot at others with an air gun in a school in Ivanteyevka, just outside of Moscow.
The teacher was hospitalized in a serious condition; three children were also injured in the attack.
The school has been cordoned off and closed for the day.
