Scientists have discovered the world’s first fluorescent frog in Argentina. Footage released on Tuesday shows the naturally fluorescent amphibian on display in Buenos Aires.
The South American polka dot tree frog (Hypsiboas punctatus), was discovered by scientists from the Bernardino Rivadavia Natural Sciences Museum near Santa Fe earlier in the month.
The frog's skin pigments absorb light at short wavelengths and re-emit it at longer wavelengths, making it glow fluorescent green in the dark.
