The Lone Star State has another adornment for it's lustrous history.
Sunday, the United Nations cultural body approved the San Antonio Missions as world heritage sites.
Kept by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, the list of heritage sites exceed 1,000 places throughout the world.
These latest UNESCO additions include five mission complexes built along the southern river basin.
Constructed during the 18th century by Franciscan missionaries, the Alamo is the most infamously known mission of the five.
The San Antonio Missions mark the first site with world heritage status in Texas.
