First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama emphatically endorsed Hilary Clinton to take over her husband's role during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Philadelphia, Monday. "
There is "only one person I believe is truly qualified to be president of the United States and that is our friend Hillary Clinton," stated Obama.
The First Lady also took the opportunity to indirectly attack Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, stating "Don't let anyone ever tell you that this country isn't great. That somehow we need to make it great again. Because this right now is the greatest country on earth," in reference to Trump's 'Make America Great Again' slogan.
The booing and heckling which has marred the opening of the DNC was not present when Obama took to stage.
The discord began when it was revealed by the Wikileaks organisation that chair of the DNC Debbie Wasserman Schultz had attempted to sabotage Bernie Sanders' candidacy. Schultz subsequently resigned only to be hired as a part of Clinton's campaign for the presidency.
