Германия: Влак с бежанци от Австрия пристигна в Пасау при засилен граничен контрол

Some 300 refugees travelling from Austria aboard two trains arrived in the German town of Passau, Tuesday, after German authorities temporarily halted trains heading from their eastern neighbours on Sunday. Berlin has tightened up German border controls to stem the flow of refugees arriving, but resumed train servies at 7:00AM local time on Monday. Around 2,100 police officers have been deployed to impose controls across the border, just one week after Germany opened its borders to Syrian refugees. The controls were set up by German authorities on Sunday as thousands of refugees continue to enter the country. Public outcry over the handling of over 500,000 migrants and refugees arriving in Europe this year has forced EU leaders to discuss the politico-economic union’s response to the current crisis. Member states have agreed to resettle an estimated eight percent of the number of refugees arriving in Europe, with leaders consenting to accommodate just 40,000 who have arrived in Greece and Italy. Brussels is yet to agree on redistributing higher figures, with member states rejecting European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker’s suggestion that the EU spread 120,000 refugees within its borders.
