USA: Veteran and double amputee holds Yoga class to raise PTSD awareness

Dan Nevins, a double amputee US veteran, held a yoga class on Memorial Day Weekend in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday, in honour military members who died in battle and those who have taken their own lives after suffering from PTSD.
Nevins said: “I just realised that yoga was the perfect way to give physical, tangible tools to people to help heal from the invisible wounds of war.”
Nevins discovered the healing power of yoga after suffering from PTSD. He said the practice saved his own life and he hopes other veterans can utilise its benefits to help themselves as well. An average of 22 veterans, suffering from PTSD, take their own lives every day in the United States.
His story has reached far and wide, with Marvel Comics reportedly contacted him about for input regarding for their amputee character Flash Thompson.
The veteran now travels the world, doing seminars, holding speeches and teaching yoga while also juggling the responsibilities of being a father and boyfriend.
