CCTV footage of the powerful earthquake of 7.9 magnitude that rocked Nepal was released on Saturday, showing the moment it struck a house located on Ichangu Narayan hill top in Kathmandu. The quake is so far known to have caused almost 1,000 deaths, as well as multiple injuries and the collapse of centuries-old temples, buildings and homes. Among the landmarks left in ruins is Kathmandu's infamous Dharahara Tower, where at least 50 people are believed to be trapped. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the quake struck an area between Kathmandu and the city of Pokhara. Tremors were felt as far away as the Indian capital territory of Delhi. According to eye-witnesses a child was killed in a town near Kathmandu when a statue fell in a park. Another 15-year-old girl is also believed to have died in India after the quake brought a house wall down. An avalanche was reportedly triggered in the Mount Everest region as well. The USGS previously rated the earthquake at 7.5 magnitude, but later upgraded the strength to 7.9. Aftershocks felt across the Indian subcontinent were reported to be at 6.6-5.1.
