Asha Aria, an Iranian man who entered a police station and demanded to be deported, said he just wants an "opportunity to be somebody," during an interview with a Russia Today journalist, in Manchester on Thursday. Aria was arrested after telling officers in a Manchester police station that he had been living illegally in the country for ten years and was "fed up" with life in the city. The migrant hoped that he would eventually be deported back to his native Iran. Aria was released after two hours, when immigration officials informed him that he had indefinite leave to live in the UK. His quest for deportation thwarted the 25-year-old began to burn bridges, telling a national British newspaper that "People are not friendly here in Manchester. When they are rude to me, I don't like it." Despite his attempts at deportation, Aria looks set to stay in the city famous for its rain, football teams, and post-industrial architecture.
