UK: Hottest day of the year hits London

Residents and tourists alike headed to the parks of London on Friday during the hottest day of the year so far, as temperatures reached 22C (72F) in the capital. Sun seekers went to London's Royal parks to soak up the unusual weather, much welcomed during the school Easter holidays. Central London Office workers headed with their sandwiches to enjoy their lunch breaks outdoors, while tourists and kids enjoyed frolicking in the lakes and fountains. The average UK temperature for April is 11.4C (52F), according to the Met Office, with Friday's temperatures exceeding those of many parts of Europe. Officials have issued health warnings however due to increased air pollution caused by pollutants internal to the UK as well as dust travelling from the Sahara.
