A parrot was ordered to turn himself in to a police station in the Indian state of Maharashtra, Tuesday, for hurling obscenities at an 85-year-old woman after she accused the owner and her step-son of training the bird to insult her. The parrot named Hariyal was reportedly trained by its owner Suresh Sakharkar for two years to insult his stepmother Janabai Sakharkar every time she visited his home. The 85-year-old eventually became tired of the insults and demanded that the police take action against the bird after formally complaining three times over the last two years. The parrot was taken to Rajura police station in Maharashtra, where the bird knew to keep his beak shut. Officers said that they were unable to lock up the foul-mouthed parrot, but handed the bird over to the Maharashtra forest department.
