USA: THAAD hits IRBM target in anti-missile test - Missile Defense Agency

The US Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) missile defence system successfully shot down a simulated intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) during a test over Alaska on Tuesday, the US Missile Defence Agency (MDA) said.
Photos and video released by the MDA captured the test, which sources said was the first of its kind.
"The successful demonstration of THAAD against an IRBM-range missile threat bolsters the country’s defensive capability against developing missile threats in North Korea," the MDA said in a statement released following the test.
