Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl to Be Charged With Desertion

Nearly one year after he was freed from the Taliban in a controversial prisoner exchange, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has been charged for leaving his Afghanistan base, his lawyer told Mashable on Wednesday.
Eugene R. Fidell said, "He's been charged with desertion and misbehavior before the enemy."
Both desertion and misbehavior before the enemy, according to U.S. military law, can be punishable by death — though NBC News reports he will face a maximum sentence of five years.
