Car owners in Norilsk found their vehicles covered in a brownish-red substance which rained down on the northern Siberian city, as shown in footage from Tuesday.
One affected parking lot is reportedly located next to the Nadezhdinsk metal plant which is owned by
Nornickel – a Russian nickel and palladium mining and smelting company.
The company's spokesperson has reportedly said that there is nothing to worry about and that the 'blood rain' was caused by rust residue, prepared for disposal, having been blown over the parking lot by strong winds and rain.
