Russia's new all-terrain ‘Sherp’ vehicle, designed by home-grown innovator Aleksei Garagashyan, tested its amphibious wheels by driving across ice and into water in Khanty-Mansiysk region on Thursday.
The all-terrain vehicle can overcome barriers of up to 70cm (2.3 ft) high and reach speeds of up to 45 kmh (28 mph) on land. It also travels in water, reaching speeds of up to 6 kmh (3.7 mph) thanks to a specially fitted internal design that instantly drains water from its body when it’s submerged.
The 'Sherp' can perform a 360 degree rotation and boasts a 1.5 lt (1500ml) Kubota V1505 four-cylinder diesel engine.
Mass production of the 'Sherp' began in 2015, however it only became known popularly among the public after it was hailed by international media.
