A man trapped beneath a collapsed apartment block was pulled from the wreckage in Kathmandu, after being trapped for around 82 hours with three dead bodies following Saturday's earthquake. The 28-year-old Rishi Khanal was on the second floor of the flat block when the 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, levelling the building. Left without food or water for the entire time, Khanal was extracted following a five hour rescue operation and is believed to have suffered a broken leg. Humanitarian workers and volunteers are busy operating in the area, assessing the damage and evaluating exactly what is required in the disaster struck country. According to officials, the death toll has risen to more than 5,000, with almost 8,000 people injured and more than eight million people affected by the tragedy.
