Three newly-born Amur tigers could be seen snoozing and playing with the parents at their new home in Belogorsk’s Taigan Safari Park, Monday, after the sanctuary welcomed the cuddly cats into this world last week.
According to the director of the safari park, Oleg Zubkov, all the cubs are strong and healthy. He went on to share his plans to build a separate park for tigers: "We really hope that we will be able to build a park specifically for tigers sometime, similar to the one we have for lions today, and that all the tigers of the safari park and Skazka zoo will have a place for themselves."
Amur tigers were once found throughout the Russian Far East, northern China and the Korean peninsula, but were driven to the brink of extinction by the 1940s as a result of hunting. Russia became the first country in the world to grant the tiger full protection.
