Two of Adolf Hitler's life-size bronze horses were recovered from a warehouse in Bad Deurkheim by police on Thursday. The statue, called 'Walking Horses' by Josef Thorak, used to stand in front of Hitler's Chancellery, but were removed after Berlin came under increased allied attacks during WWII. The horses were last seen in Soviet barracks in the East German town of Eberswalde in 1989, but went missing not after the wall fell down. Police are currently investigating eight people, reportedly aged 64 to 79, suspected of art trafficking and handling stolen goods. The statues are now in property of the German State, yet Thorak's descendants may make a legal claim for them.
