A football competition with a difference was held outside of Saint Petersburg on Saturday, when competitors faced off against in each on a pitch covered in mud. Men and women were not scared to get dirty as they endeavoured for victory in the competition. The sport is believed to have been invented by a Finnish skier, whose initial idea to replace regular skiing training with kicking a ball in swamp was later developed into a sludgy variation of the beautiful game. Despite its rather high injury rate, the sport has become popular in Finland, in the rest of Scandinavia and all over the world.
