SOT, Gloria Alfred, representing victim Miriam Haley: "It's a new day for women to know that if you have courage, there will be consequences for the predators who hurt you. So for predators that are going to wake up and fear tomorrow and say: Are they coming after me next? My answer is, probably yes."

SOT, Tara Wolfe, victim: "No one thought we'd be here today. No one thought Harvey would ever see a courtroom, and even still, no one gave him more than 10 or 12 years. And when judge Burk said 20, for the first time I can say I feel a sense of happiness, I guess. This isn't a happy circumstance to be that we're all here for, but I feel joyous." *NO CUTAWAY AT SOURCE*

SOT, Donna Rotunno, attorney of Harvey Weinstein: "Sentence that was just handed down by this court was obscene. That number was obnoxious. There are murderers that will be out faster than Harvey Weinstein will. That number spoke to the pressure of movements in the public. That number did not speak to the evidence that came out of trial. That number did not speak to the testimony that we heard. That number did not speak to evidence, nor did it speak to justice."

Victims and defence reacted to the verdict by a New York court against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein on Wednesday, as he was sentenced to 23 years in prison in his rape trial.
"It's a new day for women to know that if you have courage, there will be consequences for the predators that hurt you. So for predators that are going to wake up and fear tomorrow and say: Are they coming after me next? My answer is, probably yes," said Gloria Alfred, representing Miriam Haley, a victim.

In October 2017, more than a dozen women accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual crimes.
The allegations against Weinstein triggered a nationwide movement of denunciation of sexual harassment and assault in the US film industry which led to the subsequent #MeToo hashtag campaign.
