Slobodan Simic, showed part of the procedure for producing 'Pule,' the most expensive cheese in the world, which costs €1,000 ($1,102) per kilogram and is made by donkey's milk, on Wednesday in Zasavica, Serbia. Donkey's milk has many alleged medicinal powers because it is similar in composition to human milk. It contains an anti-allergenics, has 60 times more vitamin C than cow's milk and it is very low on fat. 'Pule' cheese is very rare and its production results in very high costs. There are only 140 donkeys in the Zasavica natural reserve, where this milk and cheese are produced, and only around a dozen jennies (female donkeys) are producing milk at any given time. One litre of donkey's milk costs €40 ($44) and each kilo of cheese needs around 25 litres of milk.
