USA: Mexico-US trade deal exists with or without Canada - foreign minister

Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray said it was a "priority" that Canada became part of a new trade deal replacing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), in comments at a panel discussion hosted by the Mexican embassy in Washington D.C. on Monday.
Despite stressing the importance of securing a new "trilateral agreement", Videgaray added that the Mexico-US deal will exist, even if Canada is left out.
US President Donald Trump, who initiated a revision of NAFTA, has repeatedly criticised the 1994 agreement for undercutting US manufacturing.
The final outcome of the new deal remains in doubt as Canada, the third treaty member, has not signed off.
