Thousands gathered for the annual Cheese-Rolling and Wake at Cooper's Hill in Brockworth, Gloucester,shire on Monday, many flinging themselves down a steep hill after a wheel of cheese. People from around the world flocked to the event to witness participants chasing a 9 lb (4kg) wheel of Double Gloucester cheese down a hill. The local rugby team stood guard to catch people and help those injured in the event. Two people broke their collarbones, with one contestant receiving a cut to the upper eye, among other minor juries. The winners, Ryan Fairly, Keavye Morgan, and overall champion, Chris Anderson, were all allowed to take home their cheese. The event is organised in secret to avoid legal cases relationship to injuries, with locals claiming that the tradition goes back hundreds of years.
