Drone footage captured Volgograd’s Grudinina mill, Tuesday. The mill has remained untouched since its destruction during the pivotal WWII Battle of Stalingrad. The mill was in operation until September 14 1942 when the building was used for producing highly-explosive bombs for the Red Army, who were fighting a bitter battle against Nazi Germany in and around the city. A fire caused its partial destruction and mill was uninhabited until 1943. In that year, because of the catastrophic shortage of space in the ruined city, some rooms of the building were renovated and briefly inhabited. A decision was made in the post-war years to transform the building into museum-monument to the struggle of the Russian people and the monumental Battle of Stalingrad.
