This is the thriving Asian city of Kathmandu, from the view of one of the many markets and the throngs of people buying and selling their wares, before a massive earthquake devastated the city, leading to nearly 5,000 casualties, over 10,000 injuries, and critical damage to infrastructure and buildings, including some of Kathmandu’s most ancient and beloved landmarks and architectural treasures, like the Dharahara Tower and the Kasthamandap Temple, which were reduced to rubble.
