A new initiative that argues for an exit by Greece from the European Union held its founding meeting in Athens on Sunday.
DiEExodos is a left-led organisation that suggests a Grexit would be beneficial for "the majority of employees, for the majority of young people, for the majority of pensioners," as member Despina Koutsoumba phrased it.
In June 2015 the Greek government held a referendum on whether to accept the conditions of a punitive EU bailout, with over 61% of Greek electors rejecting the proposed deal. However the bailout was eventually accepted by the Government which proceeded to implement pension cuts, tax increases, and other austerity measures.
