The 'Battalion of Honour' of the Chinese People's Liberation Army marched as part of the Victory Day Parade in Moscow on Saturday. A total of 110 soldiers, including marines and air force troops marched through Moscow's Red Square for the very first time in perfect formation. China’s Ministry of Defence reported that each serviceman present was at least 1.82 metres (5 foot 10 inches) tall and aged between 18 and 43 years old. They also took 116 steps per minute and were trained to take 75 cm (30 inch) long strides. The Chinese troops arrived in Russia in April to begin training for the May 9 Victory Day Parade. The Chinese soldiers comprised just one of 11 foreign contingents that took part in the Victory Parade in Moscow, marking the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Victory over Nazi Germany. Former Soviet states were represented including Armenia and Azerbaijan, while Indian and Serbian forces also took part.
