Greece: Farmers clash with police over pension reform

Clashes erupted between riot police and at least 800 farmers during a protest against planned pension austerity measures outside the Agriculture ministry in Athens, Friday.
The protest turned violent as demonstrators threw stones and other items at squads of riot police. Police used tear gas in order to disperse the protesters.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' government plans to raise pension contributions and taxes to deal with Greece's budget deficit. Farmers from across the country flocked to the capital to voice their outrage at the moves. The bigger protest is reportedly expected to start later on Friday.
