American rapper Robert Kelly, better known as R Kelly, pleaded not guilty to 11 new counts of sexual assault and abuse as he attended court in Chicago on Thursday, bringing the total amount of charges against him to 18.
The rapper, who has faced sexual assault allegations for decades, made headlines after a 2019 documentary detailed accusations of a “sex cult,” which allegedly involved isolating victims – including minors - from friends and family and subjecting them to degrading acts.
A month after the documentary was released, charges were filed against him.
The new charges involve a woman who was a minor at the time of the alleged crimes in 2010.
Kelly previously pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse in February, three of which were dropped but refiled with additional charges.
He will face court again on June 26 for a status hearing.
