Turkey: Erdogan startled by overfriendly fan in Sirnak

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was startled by a fan while on stage during the 6th Ordinary Congress of the Sirnak Provincial Presidency in the southern Turkish town on Sunday.
The incident occurred while Erdogan was on stage greeting the audience. A man suddenly jumped up and tried to hug him, as the Turkish leader and his guards pushed him away.
The man is reported to be Huseyin Demircan and, according to local media, he said that his "only goal is to be hugged by the president, but I think I was misunderstood."
Demircan was removed from the stage by Erdogan's guards and taken into custody. Local media says that he has since been released.
