Football legend Diego Armando Maradona became an honorary citizen of Naples on Tuesday, for his contribution while playing for the city's iconic football club, SSC Napoli.
Speaking at a press conference in Naples, on the occasion, Maradona thanked his parents, his teammates, and the residents of Naples. He also took a hit on critics, saying, "I had the citizenship of Naples from the first day I put on the Napoli shirt with the number 10. Understood?"
Maradona played for SSC Napoli between 1984 and 1991. In that period, he made a total of 259 official appearances and scored 115 goals, leading the club to several trophies, including two national titles.
