Doctors gathered around the injured in a Kathmandu hospital on Tuesday after dozens were killed following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that hit near Kodari. The epicentre of Tuesday's earthquake is believed to be roughly 50 miles (80 km) east of Kathmandu, near to the border with China, and close to the Everest base camp. A number of aftershocks, some measuring a magnitude of 6.3, followed the initial quake and tremors were felt as far away as New Delhi, India, where two people are believed to have been killed. Officials say 48 people were killed in Nepal and a further 17 in India in Tuesday's quake and aftershocks, though the death toll is expected to rise. Response teams, already in the country following the previous earthquake, have been sent to some of the worst affected areas of Nepal, with rescue helicopters flying to the districts of Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha where it is believed many people may have been cut-off by landslides and collapsed buildings.
