China's President Xi Jingping received his Colombian counterpart, Ivan Duque Marqez, in Beijing on Wednesday, as the Latin American leader's first state visit to China got underway.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and issues of common interests, such as investment opportunities and market opening for different products, resulting in 20 documents signed covering economic, trade, financial, transportation and manufacturing areas.
According to the Director-General of China's Department of Latin American and Caribbean affairs, Zhao Bentang, the situation in Venezuela had been also discussed between the two parties and "both sides expressed concerns and disagreement with military intervention".
Duque, who was elected in June 2018 and took office in August of the same year, is set to be in China for four days and is expected to put particular efforts into promoting meat exports to the Asian nation.
