W/S Pukkuksong-2 submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs)
Pukkuksong-2 Submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) were displayed for the first time during military parade in Kim Il-Sung Square, Pyongyang on Saturday. The event was dedicated to the 105th birthday of country's founding father Kim Il Song.
DPRK State TV shows Pukkuksong-2 SLBMs mounted on trucks and paraded in front of country’s leader Kim Jong-Un, military officials and thousands of North Koreans. Pukkuksong-2, which was tested by Pyongyang on February 12th, 2017, is a land-based successor of Pukkuksong-1 and has a shorter launch preparation comparing to the previous version.
North Koreans celebrate the so-called 'Day of the Sun' amid growing tensions with the United States. On Thursday, US President Donald Trump called upon China to "properly deal with North Korea". In response, the DPRK's Vice Minister Han Song Ryol stated that Pyongyang was seeing Washington becoming "more vicious and more aggressive."
