Several groups of protesters scuffled with security officials and police outside the Brookings Institute in Washington DC, where Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was due to give a speech, on Thursday.
The DC police worked to keep several demonstrating groups at bay, including Kurdish protesters, Amnesty International supporters, Republican supporters and a Pro-Erdogan group.
Kurdish protesters were chanting, “Erdogan is the Commander in Chief of ISIS”, and “Turkish terrorist." Meanwhile, a small group from Amnesty International chanted, “Turkey: Stop the killing”.
