North/South Korea: Kim and Moon make history with Panmunjom meet

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met with the South Korean President Moon Jae-in in the border 'peace village' of Panmunjom in the Korean Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) on Friday, for a historic summit between the two nations.
The pair are expected to discuss denuclearisation, the improvement on inter-Korean relations and the possibility of easing the sanctions on the North in light of a possible peace treaty between the two nations.
Relations have been fraught between Pyongyang and Seoul since the 1950-1953 Korean conflict, which ended with an armistice but without a peace treaty ever being signed.
The Pyeongchang Winter Olympics seemingly saw a thaw in relations on the peninsula, after a year of heightened tensions over the North's nuclear and missile programs.
Kim Jong-un is the first North Korean leader since the division of the two nations in 1945 to ever cross over to the South.
