Germany: Bavaria's Seehofer demands refugee talks with Turkey yield results

Minister-President of Bavaria and Christian Social Union (CSU) Chairman Horst Seehofer demanded an EU summit with Turkey next month over negotiations on the refugee quota, speaking at a CSU regional-level party council in Munich, Friday, following EU talks on the crisis.
Seehofer noted that due to the Ankara attack, Turkey had been unable to come to the negotiations, but stressed that talks should be productive at March’s meeting with Turkish representatives. He stressed that the refugee quota set up between the two countries “must be a European quota and not a purely German one. I mean, an agreement that a quota is set and that this quota should be taken only by Germany we reject.”
A vocal critic of Merkel’s immigration policy, Seehofer’s comments come as Turkish officials try to negotiate a resettlement scheme, hoping to transfer some of its 2 million Syrian refugees into the EU. Germany is reportedly clashing with the Turkish government over the number of refugees who could potentially be resettled in Europe.
