Security was high in Lubeck, Tuesday, in preparation for the arrival of the G7 foreign ministers who are holding a summit in the city. Close to 3,500 police officers were patrolling key locations around Lubeck city centre including the city hall and the Willy-Brandt bridge. No parking zones were established across the city and public transport has been suspended for the duration of the meeting. Eight demonstrations have been organised in Lubeck to protest against the G7 meeting. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier invited his six G7 counterparts to hold the summit in Lubeck along with EU High Commissioner of Foreign Affairs and Security Federica Mogherini. The ministers are expected to address a number of issues including suspected violations of Minsk agreement in south-eastern Ukraine and the worsening conflicts currently gripping parts of the Middle East. The G7 is made up of Germany, France, Japan, USA, the United Kingdom, Italy and Canada.
