Iranian Naval forces and a fleet of Chinese warships launched a series of joint naval exercises in Iran’s southern waters near the Strait of Hormuz, Sunday.
The Chinese fleet comprising the guided-missile destroyer Changchun (DDG-150), guided-missile frigate Jinzhou (FFG-532) and Type 903 replenishment ship Chaohu (890) had arrived in the Iranian southern port of Bandar Abbas on Thursday.
The join exercise aims to “promote relations between the two nations,” Commander of Iran’s First Naval Zone Admiral Hossein Azad said.
This is the second time the Chinese Navy has docked into the Iranian port since 2014.
