Despite widespread self-quarantine practices already in place, Lebanon's capital has gone into full lockdown to contain the COVID-19 outbreak in the Middle East.
Beginning this Sunday, the army and police forces are collaborating to enforce strict protocol for those wishing to go outside.
Footage taken from Sunday shows mostly empty streets in a place where traffic and car horns are a usual part of daily existence.
After being wracked by a severe financial crisis and the country's first sovereign debt default, the country of nearly seven million is now being forced to cope with a virus outbreak that has already affected 248 people.
