A 72 meter (236 feet) statue of the famous Chinese philosopher and writer Confucius was unveiled in his hometown of Nishan in eastern Shandong Province, Friday.
The statue stands taller than New York's Statue of Liberty and happens to be the tallest statue of Confucius in the world so far.
The project to build the edifice began in May 2012 and was finally completed late last month. Tourists can visit the statue but the official open date is yet to be established.
