A bright light akin to a huge flashlight or torch penetrated the Californian sky in Santa Monika, overnight Saturday. The phenomena has led spectators and social media to spectulate it was a UFO, although the Orange County Sheriff's Department later released a statement saying the light was caused by a missile from nearby Naval drills.
