Germany and Poland's strongest athletes and Scotland enthusiasts tossed the caber in Berlin, Sunday, as they competed in the Berliner Highland Games 2015 tournament. Although the Highland Games is originally a Scottish sporting event, Berlin's strongmen dressed up in kilts to compete in disciplines such as the caber toss and long throw of 20kg (44 pound) weights. The competition was held in the Gaerten der Welt park in Berlin's Marzahn district, coinciding with a medieval market, where visitors were offered traditional Scottish food and beverages among other attractions. The Berliner Highland Games is the only Scottish athletics tournament in Germany involving both professional athletes and amateurs. The Highland Games are held in spring and summer in Scotland and other countries to celebrate Scottish and Celtic culture. The Cowal Games, held in the Scottish Dunoon every August, is the largest Highland Games competition in the world, attracting around 3,500 athletes annually as well as spectators from all over the world.
