A Soyuz 2-1B rocket successfully launched the Resurs-P No.3 observation satellite from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Sunday.
The rocket which took off at 21:56 local time (18:56 GMT) was originally scheduled to lift off on March 12. However, the booster suffered a rare on-pad abort just ten seconds prior to launch and specialists advised that the launch should be postponed.
The Resurs series observation satellites are being used for collecting remote data for Russian civilian Earth observation agencies and foreign customers. The Resurs-P satellites are based on their military counterparts and deliver a similar image resolution.
