The face of famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was displayed on an entire three-storey wall in Kazan on Thursday, as the mayor arranged for graffiti artists to decorate the building in time for the Portuguese national football team’s arrival ahead of the FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup.
Ronaldo and his team mates are staying in a hotel sharing the courtyard with the artwork. According to graffiti artist Dmitri Kudinov, he and his team were asked to do the painting after Kazan’s mayor decided the house needed re-decorating during a walk through the city.
2016 UEFA European Championship winner Portugal are set to play their first match on June 18. The host nation, Russia, will compete against New Zealand in the first match of the tournament on the day before. Overall eight teams - Russia, Germany, Chile, Australia, Mexico, Portugal, New Zealand and Cameroon - will fight in 16 matches for the 2017 Confederation Cup title.
