Russia: International Fireworks Festival opens in Moscow with a BANG!

A huge fireworks display lit up the Moskva River in Moscow on Friday, as part of the International Fireworks Festival currently taking place in the Russian capital. Wowing Muscovites who sat and enjoyed the spectacle from a distance, the display was accompanied by a musical performance. The festival has been organised by state corporation Rostech and is aimed at showing off the latest techniques in the art of pyrotechnics. Groups from Asia, Europe, Latin America and the host country of Russia are participating in proceedings. Fireworks provided by teams who designed and executed displays at the Barcelona Olympics of 1992 and the 2008 Beijing Olympics are on display. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the festival over a two-day period, which is completely free of charge.
